In early 2016 whilst browsing the internet, I came across a video and a song called “Red Dress” by a band called “Massive Wagons”. I was instantly hooked on that song and keen to find out more. Since then I have seen them live 5 times, and every time is an absolute blast of the senses that leaves me with a huge smile on my face and one of their mighty songs firmly stuck in my head.

WARNING – Full Nelson has the same effect, this album is seriously good!!

Massive Wagons are a 5 piece rock band hailing from Lancaster and having formed in 2009, have put some hard graft in to get the much deserved plaudits they are getting right now, the last 18 months has seen them go from strength to strength and this album is the debut release having signed to Earache Records.

Full Nelson is packed with 12 cracking songs that will leave you wanting more.

Loud gushing guitars, stomping drums and choruses that will draw you in, from the opener Under No Illusion to the closing Tokyo (an absolute belter of a song live) If you don’t find yourself singing along or tapping your feet listening to this then check your pulse and your hearing, as this just rocks the whole way and is a serious contender for my album of the year.

With songs like Billy Ballon Head, which is just glorious fun, to the slightly

slower Northern Boy, Full Nelson packs some serious punch and proves

the talent of Barry, Adam T, Stevie, Adam B and Alex in abundance.

There are obvious influences on the band, that many will try and liken them

too, but MW sounds as fresh as anything else out there and vocalist Barry

Mills has an instantly recognisable voice that helps to set them apart from

anyone else. And Barry being a emphatic frontman/showman it’s easy to

see how MW have sold out headline shows all over the country and earned

support slots for the mighty Status Quo, The Wildhearts and many more.

A solid majestic album that deserves all the attention it gets and puts

Massive Wagons finely on the rock & roll map.

Personal Favourites: Hate Me, Billy Ballon Head and Tokyo

Top Quality, a firm 10/10
