Hard Rock Hell's Highway To Hell and Hard Rock Hell Sleaze took over Sheffields O2 academy in September.
Hard Rock Hell's Highway To Hell is a competition where bands battle it out for a place at future Hard Rock Hell events and exposure.
Amongst the bands performing At The Sun provided us with brilliant guitar sound. Gin Annie performed a brilliant set of dirty rock at its best. Pulverise were like a female fronted Rage against the machine and Outlaw Orchestra are amusing to watch and are by their own definition 'Heavy grass' giving a whole new take on the blue grass sound.
Bands that stood out over the Sleazy weekend were:
COYOTE MAD SEEDS local Sheffield legends rocked out stage two to an impressive and devoted crowd.
FALLING RED are a wonderful rock band they're fun and full of charisma and charm. The whole set was fantastic from start to finish. They have great star quality and fabulous stage presence. Whilst sounding fresh they also take you to another place, it could have quite easily been America at the height of the 80's LA rock scene. They know how to work a crowd well. They showcased critically acclaimed new album Lost Souls and played classic tracks from their prestigious back catalogue. They were a pure joy to watch and it was by far their best performance yet.
LA GUNS had a lot of fans in the crowd and headlined Saturday's day of Sleaze. They performed a stellar set. The classic track Sex Action even had the seated part of the crowd dancing on their seats! - Brilliant!
It was good to see the legends that are BACKYARD BABIES in Sheffield. They have great personality and they were very popular with the crowd. Highlights included the new single Shovin' Rocks and an incredibly infectious punky number called Song For The Outcasts. Great vocals great vibe exceptional stage presence and image.
The sweethearts that are SHIRAZ LANE were fabulously dressed, their stage outfits were very swish! They had a lot of fans in the crowd, despite being all the way from Finland most of the Sheffield crowd knew all the words. They were athletic too and used the whole stage well helping to get the crowd bouncing.
JETBOY absolutely blew the crowd away. Their set was brilliant. They played classics such as Evil and Feel The Shake, but also new songs including the just landed latest single Born To Fly. Every song was a treat and they totally owned the stage. The crowd were shouting for more. They still have it good and were definitely one of the best bands of the weekend.
Our award for effort has to go to ROB WYLDE who not only did a brilliant job of fronting the classic band TIGERTAILZ but a second band MIDNITE CITY and provided exceptional vocals and personality over the course of the weekend.
THANK YOU to everyone that gave the time to chat with us, their managers and their labels. No doubt we will see you on the road soon!
